This fall I had the privilege of styling and hosting a dinner in partnership with Kinfolk to celebrate the release of their new cookbook (it's really lovely!). The dinner benefitted the 2014 New City Arts Initiative forum, which will have a focus on food. Elisa Bricker beautifully captured the evening in these photos. I couldn't be happier with how she considered every detail.
The meal was intimate with just 30 guests, and I loved getting to know some new friends over a carefully planned and wonderfully inspired meal by Gay Beery. It felt like a cozy family dinner in the best of ways - candlelight, a barn hand-built by a husband and wife, warm wool blankets, food prepared by Gay and menu art created by her husband Josef, soft music, hand-lettered placecards by calligrapher and dear friend Stephanie Fishwick, wine and good cheer. We were even joined by a few goats! And we were so fortunate to be joined by the writer of the Kinfolk Table, Rebecca Parker Payne, who was able to speak to the book and her experience writing it. The decor was simple and pared-back. The focus was on the food and conversation. It was a special evening.
