When I’m bleary eyed at 2am feeding Waters or am changing my 20th diaper of the day, sometimes I look back at past flower work to remind myself that I do cool, creative things too. 😂 And then I go back to staring at my baby. 👶🏼 photo by @jenfariello
About this time last year I had just wrapped this stunner of a wedding with the most chic wedding party ever! And this year I’m snuggled in with a new baby 👶🏼- so much can change in a year! Photo by @jenfariello with planning by @donovangrovesevents
Waters Paul Joyce arrived swiftly in the early morning of November 26, one week ahead of his due date! We are completely in love with our little (blonde!) man. He is named for both his grandfathers (Paul) whom we hope he emulates in strength, generosity and love. And we pray that Waters would always be a source of life and sustenance to his family, friends, and community - knowing first that he can only truly give out of the provision of knowing the real living water we find in Christ.
Happy Thanksgiving! We are hosting this year and I just love a full house! I stuck to my strengths this year - cocktails (this year’s were the Union League and a Maple Rosemary Bourbon Sour), chocolate cream pie, and setting the table (with @emersonjamesrental of course). Feeling full and grateful. 🌾
I’ve been experiencing high levels of both productivity and exhaustion while waiting on this baby. This week I’ve grocery shopped for Thanksgiving, washed tons of laundry, built furniture, magic erasered the walls, paid taxes, had branding calls, sent proposals, ordered way too much on amazon, packed my hospital bag, sanitized baby stuff, etc etc. Most days I’ve also failed to shower 🤷🏻♀️ and now I’m feeling the nesting urge slow and need for sleep rise, just in time for babe to arrive and wreck any sleep I hope to get! Still, I can’t wait to meet him! 👶🏻🌿
Will never say no to donuts, margaritas, back massages or oversized urns 🙋🏻♀️ Photo by @ashleyrelvasphoto at one of our @pippinhillfarm weddings! 🌿
I’ve already started to see some amazing holiday mantel inspiration out there and I can’t wait to do mine! Photo of a gorgeous mantel install we did at the DAR in DC by @joeykennedyphoto 🌿 When do you start decorating for the holidays?
Getting inquiries from past bride’s bridesmaids is my favorite! There’s no greater compliment. I was lucky enough to do two of these gorgeous ladies’ weddings and I love them both so much! Photo by @michelleboyd!
Happy, beautiful Saturday, friends! While part of me wishes I was busy in the studio making bouquets, another part of me is grateful for the slow down, nesting stage. My body needs the break. Just a few more weeks til baby and I can’t believe it! Photo by @samoffit 🌿
Lace, lush blooms, pastel palette... sometimes the classics just bowl me over 💞 beautiful capture by @imryanray
Floral installs aren’t just for ceremonies or dance floors! I loved dressing up this dessert table with a ‘growing garden’ backdrop. Was just dreaming up a slightly similar piece for a 2019 wedding with one of my favorite planners @simplychicwed! Going to be a good one! 🌿 Photo by @vickigrafton
Currently watching (and obsessing over) Dior and I. Have you seen it? Watching another artist’s design process feeds me in a way nothing else does. Photo by @elisabricker from a wedding this spring that I particularly enjoyed designing - lots of opposing elements (soft, feminine vellum next to matte black flatware! Wood and lace! Etc etc)
Boutonnières on the studio floor. 🌿🌾🌿
Happy Friday! This isn’t a beautifully lit film portrait (though I’m blessed to have so many incredible friends who do take our portraits!) but it does represent life right now! On the go, toddler wrestling, 33 weeks pregnant - just need some flower clips in my hand! A few more things about me (since I love reading everyone else’s) - I’m the oldest of three sisters. My nana had her first child, a girl (my mom) in March, my mom had her first child, a girl (me) in March and I had my first child, a girl (James) in March - it’s family tradition apparently! I love classic Broadway musicals and grew up listening to the soundtracks. In my alternate life, I’d want to pursue interior design. I’m a 3 wing 4 on the enneagram. I only think games are fun if there’s a healthy dose of fierce competition involved. I’m a lake girl and dream of one day buying back my grandparents’ cottage in Door County, Wisconsin where all my best childhood memories were formed. Though my mom is an avid gardener and tried to get me interested as a child, I did not fall in love with flowers until after college! That’s all for now! If you’re new around here, please say hi in the comments!! 🌿 #fridayintroductions
Glory, fall is finally here. Sam gave me free rein with her bouquet and it’s still giving me all the feels. 🌾
So fun to see not one but two of my spring weddings up on @stylemepretty’s front page this week! Two really different vibes with super lush florals. Loved this golden hour shot by @elisabricker of Allie and Matt at @thecliftonweddings!
Finished up the 2018 season (7 weeks to baby!) with lots of autumnal color and local blooms for Kathleen yesterday at @pippinhillfarm with @donovangrovesevents! Can’t wait to see all the pretty film by @ashley.p.cox! 🌿
Classic color palette, whimsical styling, modern detailing. Loved this design so very much! For Molli and Brad earlier this year, captured by @vickigrafton.
Procrastinating all the bucket washing I need to be doing before my next shipment of flowers arrives. These bridesmaid bouquets are giving me life!! This wedding was SO fun to concept and design - my dear friend Sam gave me total creative freedom and I think I produced some of my best work for her because of that. When you let go, the best things happen!
Roses sourced straight from the farm - they just can’t be beat! I love finding that perfect flower that’s going to complete the palette and elevate the whole design. Lovely capture by @ashley.p.cox from earlier this year!
