As the creative director and lead designer of Mallory Joyce Design, I strive to infuse all of our projects - weddings, events, and editorials - with a sense of timeless elegance and artistic vision.
A graduate of the University of Virginia with degrees in Economics and English Literature, I found myself in search of a vocation that spoke to both my analytical mind and creative sensitivities. It was during my own engagement that I began planning weddings and styling events for other couples. I fell in love with the process of creating atmospheres and moments of shared experience that families would cherish for generations. Soon thereafter, I took up florals as part of my wedding design process, and have been creating lush bouquets and tablescapes for my clients ever since!
I'm an idealist and a romantic, a woman of faith, and a student of creativity. I believe family history and tradition are of utmost importance. I'm a sucker for surprises, front porches, new places, barefoot living, and getting dressed up. I can't imagine life without my husband Michael.
Sam joined the Mallory Joyce Design team as an intern and quickly proved herself as an invaluable asset with a keen eye for design and a crazy knack for organization. She now acts as design assistant and associate planner.
Wedding planning has been the perfect space where Sam's creativity and her attention to detail, structure and deadlines complement one another.
She grew up in the small town of Culpeper, VA with the best story teller of a Dad. She loves the process of telling stories and has found that weddings are a special place to do just that. With a degree in Psychology from the Virginia Military Institute, Sam has a deep desire to connect with people and finds comfort in shared vulnerability, the connection that it brings and incorporating that intentionality into our clients' weddings. Sam is an enthusiast of French Impressionism, a wine connoisseur, and finds the best conversations are had over strong coffee.
